It’s quite difficult to find someone who doesn’t enjoy the summer months. From having lunches with friends to traveling to the beach, summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. But just because summer is gone, doesn’t mean you can’t still make the most of the outdoors. Next time you start wishing for summer to enjoy that outdoor space, use these simple tips to enjoy the outdoors all year round.

Control your climate
It’s easy to understand why you would avoid the outdoors, when the second you walk outside.. you can see your breath. Not exactly hard to ignore. But colder weather doesn’t have to spell the end of using your outdoor space. Instead, install outdoor heaters. Outdoor heaters are a fantastic way to control the climate and turn an otherwise neglected space in winter, into a warm outdoor retreat. Outdoor heaters come in a range of sizes, shapes and even heating methods, so don’t think you need to sacrifice your home decor for warmth. If you have a beautiful outdoor space, such as a deck or pavilion that is exposed to the elements, consider adding some protection such as outdoor blinds or shields to protect the space. If you live in a particularly windy area for example, shields are an easy way to stop the winds from blowing through. If your outdoor space is uncovered, then consider taking the plunge and installing some cover. It can be difficult to make this decision, especially if the charm is how open it is during summer. The trade-off is of course, taking an area that you use only in good weather, to an anytime kind of space. It may seem daunting, but there are options to suit even the most apprehensive. For example, you can choose to install a clear or see through cover or roofing over the area. Additionally, if you still want that natural lighting, consider installing a skylight into the roofing. Whatever you decide, know that by installing a roof or cover, you are making an investment in be able to enjoy your outdoor space all year long.

Make winter a feature
If you want to keep it simple and make winter something to enjoy, consider installing a feature piece for winter conditions, such as a fire pit. Fire pits are a fantastic addition to any outdoor space and really encourage you to make use of the space in colder months. If you are feeling really adventurous, you can even double it up as a cooking pit. Imagine entertaining friends while the dinner cooks over your fire pit. If you aren’t interested in covering up or blocking out the cold, then why not make the outdoor space a winter retreat. Entertaining friends in winter can be a lot more fun around a roaring fire with a marshmallow or two.
